San Francisco, CA - Talk Story conference participants and local bay area supporters gathered to celebrate APPEAL's 15 years dedicated to advancing health justice and parity for Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders and Asian Americans. APPEAL also recognized the contributions and achievements of key individuals and organziations for their work in advancing the health justice movement.

San Francisco, CA - APPEAL's 15th Anniversary Conference, Talk Story: Sharing Strategies for Sustainable Change, was an important gathering for leaders in Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander and Asian American communities (NHPI and AA) to share compelling stories about how our communities are impacted by tobacco and obesity and to discuss innovative strategies to create necessary and sustainable change.

APPEAL Donor Reception | April 28, 2009
Oakland, CA - Friends and supporters gathered to celebrate 15 years of APPEAL's work in tobacco control. The reception launched APPEAL forward into 15 more years of service, community leadership, and empowerment for AAs and NHPIs in fundamental health issues, including tobacco, healthy food, and active living.

Food & Active Living Meeting | March 27 - 28, 2009
San Francisco, CA - AA and NHPI health advocates assessed critical food policy and active living policy issues impacting communities. Meeting participants discussed community competent strategies to address food and active living policy issues and developed policy priorities for AA and NHPI communities.

National Leadership Summit | December 11 - 14, 2008
Honolulu, HI - Tobacco control advocates attended APPEAL's National Leadership Summit to increase their knowledge and skills for implementing policy change. Summit participants built a better sense of team and community, increasing capacity to mobilize regionally and nationally and strengthening the AA and NHPI tobacco control movement.

Faith Based Planning Meeting | June 24 - 25, 2008
San Francisco, CA - APPEAL met with leaders and followers of diverse AA and NHPI faiths. Participants discussed the intersection between tobacco and faith, shared successful strategies in addressing tobacco and other health disparities by faith-based organizations, and built collaborative relationships to enhance tobacco control efforts in AA and NHPI communities.
